Guardian’s forthcoming asset map, above, will show the current status and location of your machines across industries and applications, with information on important metrics like fuel level, maintenance requirements, and any maintenance or performance issues.

The fleet overview screen, currently under development, will summarize daily machine performance and offer insight into overall fleet performance, efficiency, and fuel usage. It allows you to drill down into a specific machine or view your fleet from a 30,000-foot view.

Our Individual machine pages, still to be developed, will act as historical records of your machines, their maintenance, performance, and participation in jobs and shifts (the latter two functions will go live in 2025). At a glance, you can see your machine and access Astec services like support, maintenance, and parts.

Guardian Telematics is getting a major update by the beginning of 2025: ASTEC Digital is excited to invite current customers to join the pilot launch of the upgraded telematics and equipment diagnostics application and provide invaluable feedback.

The pilot will begin on Aug. 5th and last up to 60 days as ASTEC finalizes designs and onboard customers to the platform. Sign up now through this online form to help shape Guardian Telematics's future. Your early feedback will be crucial to refining the application to better serve your company's operational needs.

“We’re looking for a group of customers who are vocal about Guardian, who love it, and who want to be involved in its future development,” says John DeCovic, Product Manager of Cloud Software at ASTEC Digital. “We want customers to give us feedback on what they want to see within the app and to hear how we can leverage data in a valuable way for the asphalt industry and your operations.”

Guardian has been ASTEC’s flagship telematics and equipment diagnostics product for over a decade and was one of the first telematics solutions on the market, cementing the company’s place as an industry pioneer. Since its launch, Guardian has given asphalt operators unparalleled remote monitoring and secure control of their mobile assets, real-time information on critical engine functions, and live schematic diagrams. However, DeCovic says the infrastructure the roadbuilding mobile telematics application was built on is 15 years old and needs modernization to meet current demands and leverage the latest advances in software development.

The new Guardian software has been entirely redesigned with a sleek and intuitive user interface. It now runs faster and simplifies the process of managing machines, editing assets, and getting support for the application. Pilot participants have the unique opportunity to share their thoughts on the new and improved Guardian, directly influencing future updates and new features.

“The pilot will help us prioritize the next iteration of improvements as we develop Guardian and our product suite,” DeCovic says. "We want to hear about the reports you want to see and the data that’s important to you.”

The Guardian Telematics pilot will be customers’ first look at ASTEC Digital’s forthcoming connectivity suite. When it’s launched, the new platform will give customers a single portal for all their ASTEC Digital programs and enable applications’ data to talk to one another — allowing plant operators and leadership to draw connections and unlock powerful insights across their asphalt plant and roadbuilding operations. The connectivity suite will also be the place to source parts, learn about ASTEC services, and set fleet maintenance reminders for all ASTEC equipment. Guardian will be the first application to go live within the suite, with more applications and functionality to follow soon.

Over the coming months, all existing Guardian subscribers will transition to this new platform, providing a comprehensive overview of their operations with frequent updates and new functionalities being rolled out. Be among the first to experience the new Guardian and become part of the feedback loop that drives its evolution.
