Year in review: ASTEC Digital looks back on 2024

Looking back on 2024’s milestones as we gear up for an even bigger 2025.
Last year was one for the books for the team at ASTEC Digital. The company hit its stride in 2024 and quickly accomplished a series of major growth and product milestones.
“Bringing multiple companies, multiple cultures and languages, and a very distributed global team together has been an undertaking, but I also think that’s a big part of our strength,” says Eric Baker, ASTEC Digital’s vice president. “We’ve got so many different perspectives; we touch so many customers in so many different regions. We have a really unique perspective within the market and within ASTEC to have a bigger-picture view. It’s been a fun year.”
Here are just some of the company's achievements in 2024. As the team reflects on those exciting developments, ASTEC Digital wants to acknowledge its customers’ continued trust and partnership; your insights and experience continue to inform the evolution of our products.
Expansion mode: ASTEC Digital saw its sales grow year over year, and also doubled the footprint of its facility in Quebec. That allowed the company to take on more projects and deliver control systems to customers on shorter lead times.
Guardian gets a new home: ASTEC Digital launched an update of its flagship mobile telematics platform, Guardian Telematics, through the new Signal Connectivity Suite in the summer. Guardian was made even better thanks to feedback from customers who signed up to pilot-test the platform before its launch. As of the end of the year, 400 customers and 900 machines are now on the Guardian platform through Signal. On that note…
Signal launches: Customers first looked at ASTEC Digital’s Signal Connectivity Suite. With Signal’s launch, ASTEC Digital took the first major step toward making every part of customers’ rock-to-road operations connected, intelligent, and sustainable. Signal will enable customers to monitor and manage their operations, from the quarry to the job site, all in one place. In the long term, ASTEC aims to empower Signal users with automation, real-time insights, predictive analytics, and the integration of innovative technologies. Near the end of 2024, the company began adding machines from other product groups to the platform.
New capabilities: The company welcomed new talent to the team in 2024. Their varied skills and expertise will be invaluable as ASTEC continues to develop cutting-edge technology solutions in 2025, including products using computer vision, artificial intelligence, and more. Speaking of groundbreaking technology…
Focusing on advanced technology: ASTEC Digital re-named and re-focused its Innovation Services group as our Advanced Technology Group. Headed up by Dr. Andrew Hobbs, PhD, this group includes experts in simulation and machine learning engineering who are now leading our work in extended reality, advanced simulation, AI, and more to create digital twins of our products.
Future looks bright in 2025: The company has plenty of exciting developments in store for 2025, including launching a unified mobile telematics application through Signal; integrating data from DrumTronic, BatchTronic, EmulTronic, and PM3 into the connectivity suite; and debuting a new computer vision system for truck loading at World of Asphalt in March.
“We’re really going to be accelerating the momentum behind Signal, getting more equipment on there and being able to drive more insights into that product,” Baker says. The company also plans to continue innovating in its control products and sees AI as a “big area of growth for us, in terms of innovative solutions for our customers.”
